How Phoenix Became Immortal

This is a myth I wrote and decided to illustrate. Feel free to comment on the myth as well as the illustration- done in Sharpie & Prismacolor markers.

Out of all of his creatures, God was most proud of the phoenix. Its beauty and elegance were captivating; each flap of its wings created a wondrous flash of flame. God would spend many hours admiring it each day.
The angel Satan was jealous of the phoenix and aspired to be as beautiful as one. He set out to capture one and learn its secrets so that he might use them for himself. However, because angels were not to touch the mortal creatures of the earth, the phoenix’s fiery body burned his hands when he grabbed it. Angered, Satan killed the phoenix and burned its body to ashes.
When God learned of this, he flew into a rage, directed entirely at Satan. But, God had made a covenant to never directly harm his angels. To punish Satan, God instead banished him to the underworld and made the entire place full of fire, so that he would be forever reminded of the phoenix he had slain. God then took the remains of the phoenix and breathed life back into them, granting the creature the ability to resurrect itself from its own ashes when it perished.
